When does it work?
It wants swell out of the WSW (around 250°). The wind blows offshore here from the NE or E - that's the morning you want. It works between 3.3ft and 11.5ft; under that it doesn't break, over it it closes out. It comes in best on low tide. It is strict about it: outside that window it stops working. It is wide open to the wind - an onshore blow flattens it out quickly.

Is Supertubos good for beginners?
No. It is a hollow, fast beach break with a heavy shorebreak and a late takeoff. Beginners are much better served by the sheltered beaches around Peniche and Baleal.
When is the best time of year to surf Supertubos?
Autumn and winter, roughly October to March, when north Atlantic groundswell arrives with enough size and period. Summer is generally small and onshore.
What tide does Supertubos work on?
Low tide, mostly. It is tide sensitive: the bank goes soft and the wave loses its shape as the tide fills in.

No. Supertubes is a right-hand point at Jeffreys Bay in South Africa. Supertubos is a beach break in Peniche, Portugal, and searches for the name often return the wrong one.
